About Soup Angels
A non-denominational, non-sectarian community kitchen, operating under our own 501(c)(3) status, housed in the building provided by The Angel Nyack — formerly the First Reformed Church of Nyack.
A meal is more than food.
Soup Angels of Nyack's mission is to offer hot, nutritious, freshly prepared meals in a dignified and caring environment to anyone in need of a meal and companionship in our community — no questions asked.
Our Vision
We envision a community where everyone has reliable access to healthy food, and strive to strengthen and enhance our community connections to encourage healthy lives.
How we show up for our neighbors
Service
We are inspired to serve and make a difference in our community by providing a dignified dining experience and sharing access to local programs and resources.
Equity
We strive for equity, demonstrating acceptance and inclusivity as we address food insecurity in our community.
Empathy
We treat everyone with empathy and respect — attentive to our guests' needs, offering comfort and care in everything we do. We affirm and validate everyone's humanity.
Belonging
We foster a sense of safety, family, and acceptance for all our guests and volunteers, recognizing that needs and resources include connection and community.

It started with one dinner.
Three members of the Sunday Supper soup kitchen in Nyack believed there was an urgent need for “a free, hot, nutritious meal to anyone who needs a meal in the Nyack area, no questions asked.” Their first Thanksgiving dinner served more than 100 guests — and Soup Angels hasn't missed a single meal since opening in 2006.
Through snowstorms, Hurricane Sandy, and the pandemic, the doors stayed open. In 2026, we celebrate 20 years.
